Another year, another Glastonbury Festival. Of course, no Glasto would be complete without Kate Moss perched at the side of the Pyramid Stage watching Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream make the crowd go crazy while wearing a sequinned cape.
But what else were we planning to tick off our festival fashion bingo board? Stars wearing floaty dresses with stompy biker boots and leather jackets? Check! Flower hair garlands? Check! And of course, no British festival can ever take place without lashings of cut off denim shorts with a fringed jacket and/or bag – step forward Poppy Delevingne.
Tribe 1 – The Best Dressed BFFs
We all know there's nothing more handy an accessory than a famous friend in an outfit which cleverly coordinates with your own. Take a bow stylish BFF pairs Kate Moss and Stella McCartney in your oversized jackets and rock n' roll royalty sunglasses; Poppy Delevingne and Alexa Chung in your skiny jeans, boots/wellies and sensible coats - there's no way those two will be catching a cold in the kidneys. And as for Lily Cooper and Nick 'Grimmers' Grimshaw in their his n' hers 90's trainers du jour - re-issued Nike Air Max's, natch - we have no words. Only a deep sigh of admiration.
Tribe 2 – The Top Of The Crops
Without a doubt, a toned up mid-section is the stylish girl's best friend this summer as tops get cropped all over the shop. Millie Mackintosh teamed her army parka, Hunter wellies and flower garland with a teeny tiny pair of shorts and a nifty cropped T-shirt. Scene-steaker Rita Ora, who we have to congratulate on some of the chicest Glasto outfits witnessed this year - went for this lilac knitted combo - pencil skirt and parka - plus a pair of stompy Terry de Havilland boots and her usual fiercesome crimson lips and nails. Meanwhile, rapper Iggy Azalea went for this printed shorts and crop top combo while Azealia Banks knocked the on-stage outfit competition out of the park by dressing up as a neon baby dinosaur hatched out of a Nineties egg. Part TLC and part Transformers - we're giving her 10 gold stars for originality.
Tribe 3 – Spectacular Spectacles
Jaime Winston - who also wore festival boots made by Kate Moss's shoemaker, Terry de Havilland - styled up her chilled-out festival look with these red mirrored sunglasses, which not only gave Jaime the option of hiding any festival-induced eyebags - BUT CRUCIALLY - matched her festival dye job - pillar box red. Cara Delevingne also looked casual in skinny jeans and a shellsuit jacket, plus some turquoise mirrored shades - bravo Cara. Not to be outdone by her supermodel wifey, Rita Ora celebrated the sunniest Glasto weather in living memory by wearing this pair of Penelope Pitstop-tastic cat-eye gold metallic sunglasses and some cool bracelets from ASSYA LONDON.
Tribe 4 – The Faithful Festival Fallbacks
If it ain't broke - then don't mess around trying to fix it. A few people who took the tried-and-tested approach - girly dress or cut-off shorts, big boots and a spot of fringing - it's not a suble code for 'festival wear' - but it looks good on these ladies. We're applauding Peaches Geldof for her lacy frock with black leather biker accessories, and a Chanel handbag, while Poppy D styled out Navajo boots and a fringed top with a denim jacket and pint of cider, while Sienna Miller, the originator of boho style all those years ago reverted to feminine hippy style, strolling with her handsome bearded fiance, Tom Sturridge, did nothing to dampen the picture-perfect festival vibes.
