SOB! Girls Aloud Confirm Their Split - Let's Remember Their Finest Fashion Moments

21 March 2013 by

Got your tissues ready? On the last night of the Girls Aloud Ten: The Hits Tour, the girl group announced that they would be splitting for good. Sob.

After their Liverpool show they tweeted: 'Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!! Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots.'

Chezza also posted some tweets which made us think something was up yesterday, such as 'To the people that haven't been able to make it, for what ever reason, we feel your support regardless and have done for 10 yrs..' She also tweeted 'Last show !!! When did that happen ??! It was just 5 minutes ago we were starting rehearsals! Feel like I've been in a time machine.'

It is hardly a huge shocker that the girls are hanging up their sequins, as they hadn't pencilled in any other commitments after the tour. But that doesn't make the news of the split any less sad for the Girls Aloud super fans. So to celebrate the last ten years of the five-some, why not spend the next ten minutes looking at some sequins?

Style wise the girls have come along way since their matching silver foil trousers and school girl outfits in their Sound of the Underground era ten years ago. Iconic Girls Aloud style moments include their matching gold sequin gowns for 'Promise', the Marie Antoinette costumes for 'I don't Speak French' and the candy pink tulle dresses for Biology.

As for the costumes for their last ever tour they wore Victoria's Secret angel wings, 60s shifts inspired by Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 and Jessica Rabbit style red sequin floor sweepers. Grazia Daily spoke to costume stylist Alison Elwin who said that 'The girls have all grown up and gone their separate ways style-wise, but for the show we very much concentrate on the Girls Allowed collective identity – glitz, glam and extravagant! Of course, their individual styles do shine through as well.'
