Girl Bands On The Front Row! Spice Girls, Girls Aloud And The Saturdays Love Julien Macdonald

16 February 2013 by

Julien Macdonald's show this afternoon at LFW was, as you would expect, super duper glitzy. But it was also a GIRL BAND bonanza as all five of the Saturdays sat on the front row (plus Pixie Lott who joined the gang). Although Mr Macdonald dresses Hollywood types such as Kristen Stewart and Kim Kardashian, he clearly has a soft spot for the all girl bands.

Prepare for some LFW flashback trivia. Cast your minds back to 1999, as this was the first year that the Spice Girls sat as a pack on the front row at the Julien Macdonald show. Mel B walked in the show arm in arm with Julien and... Kate Moss. Yep that's right the uber cool Kate Moss walked along the catwalk with an actual Spice Girl - the strangest throwback catwalk moment EVER? Emma Bunton, Mel C and Victoria Beckham sat on the front row whooping and cheering on their band mate (there was even some serious teeth flashing from VB).

Cheryl Cole and Girls Aloud were also regular FROW-ers at Julien Macdonald before he had that infamous spat with Chezza. But he's obviously got over their fall out and found a new girl band to play with. Enter the Saturdays. Una Healy, Rochelle Humes, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford and Vanessa White were ALL there on the front row looking very, very glossy. Need proof? Watch Mollie King talk to us about her girl crush Cara Delevingne at this afternoon's show.

What better way to return to LFW than with a reference to one of your most iconic fashion week moments? Good work Julien. This is one of our favourite FROW moments so far - mainly because it gives us the chance to look at pictures of Kate Moss mingling with the spiceys and Victoria Beckham full on grinning.
