It's official, here at Grazia Daily we have a serious case of Gatsby mania. This morning we headed over to the Brooks Brothers store on Regent Street for the grand unveiling of their Great Gatsby themed windows and Gatsby collection.
They also had a selection of the actual costumes from the film dotted around the store, as dinner suits and sparkly flapper dresses which were worn by the cast in the party scenes are displayed next to magnums of Moët. Sequins + champers = the perfect combo, no? Plus we're told you can spot these costumes in the trailers.
The window displays at the Regent Street store have been Gatsby-fied and transport you to Fitzgerald's magical world of elegant excess. Our favourite art deco window features the signature Jay white and pink pastel suits presented next to a beautiful arrangement of pink and white flowers.
Brooks Brothers was the official menswear clothing partner for the film, working with costume designer Catherine Martin, to design all of the male costumes for the film. They manufactured more than 500 ensembles, including Leo's suits. Many of the costumes were based on original pieces from the 1920s in the Brooker Brothers archive.
Catherine Martin said: 'Brooks Brothers is mentioned numerous times in Fitzgerald’s writings as a representation of the ultimate gentleman’s purveyor of fine clothing to the American man of distinction. t is this most basic and fundamental connection that has made our collaboration so authentic.'
For Gatsby fans who want to copy the look from the film, Brooks Brothers have adapted the costumes into modern menswear pieces which are now available to buy in their stores. How exciting is that? There are pastel suits, regatta blazers, boater hats, formal bowties using archival fabric, a Deco inspired geometric patterned waistcoat, neckties and dinner suits. There is even a beech wood walking stick, based on the one Mr Gatsby carries in the film. We are waiting to see Lord Dissick try out this walking stick.
Stay with Grazia Daily to see our very own Jay Gatsby, fashion assistant Josh, model the Gatsby-tastic Brooks Brothers collection...
