We're half way through fashion month now as we've crossed New York off our fashion calendar, and London is all over in just a few hours (sob). So as the fash pack pack up for Milan it's the perfect time to assess the latest front row trend. At London the FROW-ers we were most impressed with didn't wear laduree colours or ladylike tulle, but opted for masculine tuxedos.
So why have the stars fallen for tailoring? The biggest obstacle for the fashion lot so far has been the weather, as New York was hit by a snowstorm and London wasn't exactly toasty, so a trouser suit is an easy way of staying covered up but still looking sophisticated.
Rita Ora and Rosie Huntington Whiteley both wore tuxedos to Burberry and Juno Temple wore a trouser suit to Mulberry. We spoke to each of them about how to pull off this trend, so read below to find out their top trouser suit tips...
Rosie Huntington Whiteley at Burberry Prorsum
RHW looks anything but manly in the slim leg red trouser suit with those golden waves. At Burberry Prorsum we asked the lovely Rosie what her top tip for wearing menswear is and she said the key to the look is 'sexy heels.'
Rita Ora at Burberry Prorsum
Rita makes a statement in her navy Burberry mens suit, with rolled up sleeves and slouchy trousers, paired with the Black Score Queen Delevingne t shirt from Grazia Daily gave to Cara.
When Grazia Daily asked her about her look she explained: 'I was actually meant to wear a dress but this suit was just so much more comfortable that I stole it off my stylist. It's a Burberry men's suit from Spring 2013 and I just put it on.'
Think the look could look a little manly? 'I think it's very sexy on a lady. It gives you that twist but it's still feminine because you're feminine,' Rita told Grazia Daily. 'It's that kind of balance and I'm very glamorous with my hair and I love a bit of red lipstick, even though I'm not wearing any today.'
Juno Temple at Mulberry
Juno wore a coral red trouser suit à la Rosie to Mulberry, but she kept it casual with a high neck black tee and some oversized Mulberry arm candy. When Grazia Daily asked her tips for wearing a trouser suit she revealed: 'I think that you should wear it in a way that you feel comfortable. I’m not a huge fan of someone wearing clothes that are wearing them. I think with a trouser suit less is more because it is such a statement.'
'When we were talking about my make up today and they were like ‘do you want lips?’..I think kind of keep it as simple as possible because it speaks for itself especially when it’s electric red. Isn’t it beautiful?' Juno added.
It's not just Rita, Rosie and Juno who have fallen for menswear, as Karolina Kurkova, Petra Nemcova and Anna Dello Russo have all worn suits for fashion weeks 2013.
