Katie Holmes with Francisco Costa at the Met Ball
Congratulations Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein Collection, on your André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah Georgia! While he was at the ceremony at the Fashion College, the blog Fashionista caught up with the minimalist designer to find out all about his various muses and which celebrities he’s loving dressing at the moment. Oh - and they said he was 'really sweet and humble' as well. Aww!

Francisco says; 'She had fitted the dress, loved the dress, and I said, at the last minute, I have another dress I’d like to try, and she says, "Oh my God, I like this dress better" and she really brightened up, so I said, "That’s the one we have to go with." [The original dress was] beautiful, very much like the spring collection that’s in the exhibition–it’s a beautiful bustier, deep green, with a peplum and a separate skirt.'
Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein Collection at the Oscars 2011
One of Francisco's all-time favourite stars to dress, was Jennifer Lawrence at her first ever Acadamy Awards ceremony. (She went on to win one only two years later) He says; 'I think Jennifer was amazing just for the fact that she came out of nowhere and her image was so different than how she had been portrayed and it made such a statement and I thought she was so beautiful. Everything worked, the hair, everything was amazing.'
Olivia Wilde and Maggie Gyllenhaal at the 2013 Met Ball
He also dressed actresses Maggie Gyllenhaal and Olivia Wilde for the Met Ball, although he disregarded Anna Wintour's punk diktat, saying ‘Who wants to look at a theme? It’s not about a theme when you’re getting dressed; it’s about looking beautiful; it’s about looking gorgeous.’
Well Francisco, that’s exactly what we like to hear – a man confident in his own taste.
