Forbes Announce The World's 100 Most Powerful Women: Beyonce More Powerful Than The Queen

23 May 2013

It’s that time of year again - the bigwigs at Forbes have released their list of the most powerful women in the world and as usual it's got the fashion world buzzing. There’s a whole load of familiar names including Beyonce, Angelina Jolie and of course Queen Elizabeth II herself but also some prominent ladies we've never heard of (we really need to brush up on our international politics). All in all, its basically the who's who of anyone that matters.

Headed up by Angela Merkel, Germany's formidable Chancellor, the top ten also includes America's delightful First Lady and a bunch of internationally influential women. Here are some of our Grazia Daily faves from the world of entertainment and fashion who have made it into the list - you go girls!

The Powerful Ladies Of Entertainment

Next to all the usual suspects, like Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama there’s a whole load of important stars. Or ‘celebrities that matter’ as Forbes call them. The highest ranking is Queen Bey - coming in at a very respectable #17. Next up is Angelina Jolie at #37, though we're thinking they came up with this list before Angie's positively influential  mastectomy revelation…

The Powerful Ladies of Fashion

Anna Wintour comes in right behind Queen Elizabeth II, perhaps because of her recent appointment as Conde Nast’s Artistic Director, and Miuucia Prada gets a very respectable #57. Diane Von Furstenberg and Gisele Bundchen also made it in, as did the world’s youngest female self-made billionaire – the one and only Spanx founder, Sarah Blakely. She too deserves a medal.
