It seems like Gwen Stefani's always had super-chic fashion instinct. The singer's uploaded an throwback video of herself in her prom dress to Instagram - and she looks both adorably young and totally stylish in it.

Gwen donned the floor-length monochrome look for a school event when she was 17. The frock had a black off-the-shoulder bodice and white full skirt with leaf detail. It was made by her mum and was inspired by Grace Kelly's iconic look from movie Rear Window. Yep, that's right, while we were all going through awkward fazes, Gwen was getting inspired by actual fashion legends.

'A special TBT for all you about to go to prom...,' wrote Gwen. 'This is the dress me & my mom made when I was 17, inspired by Grace Kelly's dress in the movie Rear Window.'

The video features a clip of Gwen spinning around in the dress in her living room. She's uber tanned and has a chin-length platinum bob in the footage. It's joined by a slideshow of snaps of Gwen, her mum and Grace Kelly as well as a photo of the singer holding the gown now. The Grace Kelly inspired flashback snap is perfectly timed, Grace Kelly bio-pic Grace of Monaco debuted at Cannes last week.

Gwen's not the only star to share flashback snaps of her prom night, the likes of Beyonce and Jessica Alba have all shared shots of themselves enjoying their special evening. Beyonce sported a halter neck printed dress with a split leg and cut-out waist for her prom. She teamed the look with groomed pin curls and cute date. Britney Spears went for the classic side swept up-do and sparkling gown combo and Taylor Swift had a bridal moment in a white strapless number.

None of their looks have anything on Jennifer Aniston's big hair or Jessica Alba's huge dress though.
