It was back in November that we first heard that Penelope Cruz had returned to her roots and signed a three year contract with Spanish luxury designer Loewe, and today we have the first look of her posing up a storm in the Spring 2013 campaign.
As you would expect, the images shot by fashion photog duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott are smouldering and uber sexy in that Spanish stylee with killer dark eyes by makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury. The actress is the perfect fit for the Madrid-based brand and joins a group of supers who have modelled for Loewe including Gisele Bunchden, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. But this is the first time the brand have shot a Hollywood starlet and we're delighted to see her providing those Oscar winning credentials.
'I haven't worked with a Spanish brand for a while, and this is one I grew up with. I grew up admiring all the designs, the bags, the clothes, the accessories...,' says Penelope of working with the brand. 'My favourite bag is the “Amazona” because there are so many different versions of it. It's always the same shape but it always feels like a new thing you have never seen before... even if you know it's the one that has been there since ever!'.
