UPDATE: This weekend the world (read: Grazia Daily) got very excited at the first sight of Sarah Jessica Parker's footwear creations for her new collection (see below for the full deets). And now we have more! Praise be. US Glamour (via Fashionista) has a preview of the shoes in its new issue and we now know there's everything from canvas flats and strappy heels to lace-up booties on offer. 'I’m allergic to the idea that certain shoes are for certain occasions,' explains SJP.
She also reveals that playing Carrie on Sex And The City cemented her love for shoes so it's hardly surprising that the character has inspired her designs. In fact, there's one pair of nude T-strap pumps that are fittingly named 'The Carrie'. Now all we need is a Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte and we're good to go.
SJP has also filmed a super cute video for The Coveteur where she talks through the different designs. She said of her style: 'Treating colour as a neutral which isn't super typical. That's what I loved about playing Carrie Bradshaw, was that rules didn't apply to her. I love just wearing what I like to wear rather than what I feel is expected of me. I wanted to create a line of shoes that spoke to those kinds of ideas.'

Last year the exciting news emerged that Sarah Jessica Parker is finally about to make Carrie Bradshaw (and our) dreams come true with the launch her own shoe and bag collection. The line is simply titled SJP and a select few editors had a sneak preview of the designs during New York Fashion Week, but still no images have emerged. Until now.
Thanks to the new issue of Lucky (via Racked), the world has been treated to a first look at the actress-turned-designer's creations. This is the 'Diana' - a black Mary Jane single-sole stiletto crafted from patent leather and featuring a thin, off-center strap and gold buckle. It costs $395, which is a round £240.
SJP explained that she didn't want to skimp on quality and found the right factory in Italy that would ensure great craftsmanship but at a lower price point. Indeed, this isn't just a gimmicky celebrity clothing line as Parker boasts extensive shoe expertise. 'I really wanted to bring back the single sole. I wanted to go back in time and be the 11-year-old that was looking in the window at Charles Jourdan and Maud Frizon and recall those great, gorgeous colours and the way people made shoes without thinking about anyone else, just doing what excites them.'
Ever eagle-eyed, Racked points out the Diana looks rather familiar - any Sex And The City fan worth their salt will recall the 'Urban Shoe Myth' scene when Carrie raids the US Vogue shoe cupboard and comes across those Mary Janes [above]. Considering Parker is famed for playing a character with a Manolo Blahnik addiction - who could forget when Big proposed with a blue five-inch stiletto? - it's no surprise the shoe designer was a huge inspiration. What's more, her partner in footwear crime is George Malkemus, the longtime CEO at Manolo Blahnik. One thing's for sure, SJP is clearly pumped up to bring her designs to the world's feet as she tweeted this weekend:
And neither can we! Expect to see more colour, plenty of suede and grosgrain details when the full collection lands at Nordstrom. In the meantime, admire SJP (and Carrie's) greatest shoe moments in the gallery below...
