If you are shopping in London this weekend then head straight to Liberty's as Grazia has its very own window display. Today was the day that Fash Factor winner Cassandra Green's candy-coloured shaggy creation was placed in the department store window, where it will live for the next month.
We headed to Oxford Circus at a painful 8am to see Cassandra's Liberty takeover. Creating a Liberty window is a precise job - the model was adjusted an inch this way and an inch that, until she was placed in the perfect pose. The Central Saint Martins student's winning design will be displayed in Liberty's window to tie in with London Fashion Week. Her work sits alongside that of Britain's great designers, including Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders. Good going for a girl straight out of fashion college.
The theme for Liberty's London Fashion Week windows is 'fashion monster,' with a mix of textures and fabrics displayed against a moody marble backdrop. So Cassandra's pastel bombs of fluff and gold-fish handbags tie in perfectly with the theme. As expected Cassandra was giddy to see her designs displayed next to Alexander McQueen. She squealed: 'I have come here since I was a kid and always loved looking at the window displays. Next week I'll bring my family. My nan keeps going hysterical!'
More than 80 fashion hopefuls entered our talent search Grazia Fash Factor back in June and faced our esteemed judging line up – designers Roland Mouret and Peter Jensen, Liberty's Managing Director Ed Burstell and Head of Fashion Buying & Merchandising Stephen Ayres, Grazia’s Editor-In-Chief Jane Bruton and Fashion Director Susannah Frankel. The standard was so high we had TWO winners. Karen Mabon, whose scarves are already in production, will see her pieces stocked at Liberty's in the autumn.
