Diane Von Furstenberg certainly knows how to celebrate. In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of her iconic wrap dress, the designer embarked on a year-long celebration, calling upon her favourite models and influencers to take the wrap dress on various adventures in their cities for 'Journey Of A Dress'. This month sees the A-list beaut Emma Roberts who strides across Malibu beach rocking the chain link dress in a dreamy new video.

Frolicking on the beach, Roberts styled her printed blue wrap with nothing but bare feet, sunkissed hair and a smile. "My first dress I got as a teenager and I remember wanting one so bad, I just fell in love with it," she says in the clip.

'I’m pretty laid back,' the star said of her own style. 'You can always find me in jeans and boots! I love a great pair of denim. For red carpet I always wear dresses though. My style icon is Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City. She does glamour but will also wear sweat pants!'

Previous collaborators include Jourdan Dunn, Coco Rocha and bloggers Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad, Chriselle Lim of The Chriselle Factor and Jessica Stein of Tuula Vintage. Coco Rocha went first, as she styled her printed red wrap with black boots and a furry jacket in the snow in New York.

Back in January Katherine Ormerod, our senior fashion and features editor, jetted over to La La Land to celebrate the wrap dress with DVF herself. Katherine attended the grand opening of the Journey of a Dress Exhibition at the historic Wilshire May Company building next to the LACMA campus. It was there that we chatted to Diane about the iconic dress.

‘It’s very funny,' she said. 'Even though I owe everything to her – she paid all my bills, my children’s education, my houses – I never appreciated her and sometimes I even resented her because I thought, “Why do people always talk about the wrap dress when I do so many other things?” But when I was preparing this exhibition I noticed how the dress had taken on a life of its own and I decided: it was time to honour it.’

The A Listers were out in force at the event to celebrate the Journey of the Dress. See DVF's starry fans in the gallery below...
