Elle Fanning Wears Prada’s Spring 2013 Judo Platforms To Breaking Dawn Premiere: Discuss!

Elle Fanning rocks Prada’s platforms

A heated debate rolls on today at Grazia HQ today: are Elle Fanning’s fashion forward judo flat-forms from Prada’s spring/summer ‘13 collection hot to trot or just totally not? The more directional members of the team are gung ho for this new shoe shape – patiently anticipating its stompy arrival into stores next year.

Others, who find loafers a scary enough prospect, are not convinced. And then there are the sitting-on-the-fashion-fencers, who don’t want to commit either way, because anyone who knows the power of Miuccia Prada’s persuasion, it’s most likely that these will end up a mega hit next season and a front-row favourite.

Prada's 'Geta' flatforms hit the runway for spring/summer 2013

14 (yes, 14!) year old Elle is the first A-lister to walk them out onto the red carpet for the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn premiere in Los Angeles last night, but Miuccia – creator of many ugly shoes (and that’s not a bad thing folks, ugly-chic is a Prada signature) – was so committed to the bold idea for her runway show, she made sure almost every look was finished off with these Geta creations (based on a traditional Japanese wooden-soled flip flop) complete with matching socks.

Rihanna and Elle Fanning were both fans of Prada's spring summer 2011 creepers

We’re fully aware that these aren’t anywhere near the easy peasy mini stilettos that slide seamlessly into a girl’s wardrobe, but remember it wasn’t so long ago that Prada's colour-blocked creeper-brogues stormed the spring/summer 2011, caused an instant shock, and then went on to be one of the key sell-out items of the season. Prada stores couldn’t stop them from flying off the shelves. In fact, Miss Fanning was also a superfan of those, too.

You can’t predict just what the fashion world will fall for, or fall over for. *Whispers* Between you and us, we’ve heard that a stacked flat-form can do bad things to a girl's shins…  Eep!
