And we’re off! London Fashion Weekhas started and so has the torrential rain. It’s a bit glum around Somerset House but keeping style spirits high are all of the street photography troops who don’t mind their cameras getting soaked for a great shot, and the fash eds who – despite such adverse conditions – still seriously think that mules were a good idea. Add that dedication to the joyful catwalk collections and things don’t look so bad after all. Here’s what we’ve enjoyed so far…
1. Uncovering young talent at LFC's MA Show
Cuddly muffs, tartan maxis, shredded denim and the wildest hair we've seen in a while all played a part in today's ultra-creative MA show from the London College of Fashion. Dubbed as Ones To Watch, we could certainly see why, and in particular we feel for the cyber Hilander charms of Barbara Kolasinski's collection (above right and left).
2. Leah Weller's super pretty singing voice

To open the Daks show and celebrate the British heritage brand’s 120th anniversary, a video flashed up before us of the Modfather, Paul Weller, and his daughter Leah singing ‘You Do Something To Me’ to a moody ‘60s style backdrop. So the 22-year old is now a campaign girl and looked super-chic front row with a shoulder robed checked mac over a black dress. See it below:
3. Street stylin' ways to deal with the rain
Neon sneakers, sport socks and cray-cray hats were order of the day for those who didn't want to rely such an oridinary thing as an umbrella. There were adventurous white shoes a-plenty, urging us all to reconsider and ditch the winter gear for good.
4. Catwalk coats were way cool
And not just because we really REALLY needed them today, but because designed offered up some very nice options indeed. J. JS. Lee’s slouchy cream tailoring looked dead chic, we wanted the boy's military coats at Daks and Eudon Choi's mongolian chubby in dove grey would be a really luxe treat. The new furry numbers from Shrimps were particularly AWESOME and there was a video starring Adwoa Aboah and Laura Bailey. Considering how many people are wearing Hannah Weiland's debut collection, we expect big things to come for these...
5. We meet a Hollywood fave
As a newly crowned Lancome girl, Lily was in town last night for a pre-Bafta party and to show off her insanely good dollyish makeup. Her dark lip accented her Mary Katrantzou dress very nicely indeed. Here's a snap of our fashion assistant Josh cosying up to his long-time Hollywood fave.
