Sexy dresses are somewhat of an undeniable métier for designers Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED. So much so that the boys have dedicated their Pre-Collection (now is the time for that this in-between season starts landing in store) to only the sassiest of red and black frocks inspired by history’s most iconic leading ladies of the silver screen. And looking back last week at some of Cannes’ most stylish moments of the past, it’s no wonder Joan Collins, Ava Gardner et al continually prove to be good ultra-glam inspiration.
“We could not be more excited for the launch of the Little Red & Black Dress collection,” say the creative director duo of the 10 piece range of slim-fitting sheaths created by the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly in mind, “These women were not only legendary for their talent, wisdom and strength, but they were also innovators in fashion. The collection is the epitome of chic, and it captures the essence and attraction of the Fifties while combining it with the untamed spirit of DSQUARED2 while also offering collectible pieces to the brand’s loyal followers around the world.”
From plunging necklines and long sleeves to varied hemlines and peplums, there’s clever figure flattering trickery in each and every one of these LBDs and LRDs. And, a bit of technical info here: being made in crepe and stretch wool-cady there’s some major body-hugging going on.
To accompany the launch of the new Red and Black collection which you can see above is a video to get you in the mood…
