UPDATE: As if David Beckham in leather wasn't enough, Belstaff have released a video of Becks zipping through the countryside with his band of Belstaff brothers. Beckham on a bike is the perfect lunchtime treat. Beckham as a brooding biker ... the windswept quiff... the mud flying behind him. What. A. Man.
Belstaff also released a documentary which follows five British bikers on a journey from the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex to the Belstaff flagship on New Bond Street. At the end of their journey they are joined by 50 bikers to drive down New Bond Street for the opening of the flagship during London Fashion Week. David rides a Super Vintage 93 Knuckle and is wearing Belstaff leathers (natch). David said of his adventure: 'What I love about riding is the freedom, you have a full-face helmet on.'
You might remember that back in London Fashion Week Bond Street was shut down for the night for Mr David Beckham and a bunch of bikers to open Belstaff's new store. We were there to chat to the leather-clad Becks (more on that later), but now we get to see more of Beckham in a biker as it has been announced that David is the face of the 2014 global advertising campaign.
That's not all as it has been announced that there will also be a special Beckham for Belstaff Collection. We have no details about the line so far, but we imagine he has been taking a few tips from the lovely VB. Back at the store opening he told us: 'I love being able to work with great brands with a lot of history and when they are British brands it's even better.'
The campaign, shot by Peter Lindbergh, shows David taking a break from a biking adventure in the English countryside (Buckinghamshire to be precise), lounging on the grass in his leathers. Phwoar, it's quite possible he looks hotter in a leather jacket than his pants.
Belstaff comments that the concept behind the campaign was a band of brothers travelling across the English countryside. We asked David if he would ever do a Ewan McGreggor and go on his own Belstaff biking trek and he said: 'Maybe! I've got four kids to get to school and pick up from school so if I ever find the time, yeah maybe.'
As for his connection with the brand David told us: 'I began wearing a lot of Belstaff a few years back when I started riding bikes. I actually found my first [Belstaff jacket] when I was shopping in a vintage store, funnily enough, about six or seven years ago and I still wear that when I'm riding.'
