** Watch our exclusive video interview with David Beckham **
As if the excitement of London Fashion Week isn't enough for us Graziettes, an invite lands on our desks asking us to *ahem* meet David Beckham. Do we jump at the chance? Do we heck! In fact, we leap from the office and run as fast as our Loubies would carry us. The occasion is the opening of Belstaff House with a motorbike parade down New Bond Street and the perfect excuse for Mr Beckham to dress up in luxury leathers. Oh, how we swoon. But the best is yet to come...
David Beckham opens Belstaff House [Belstaff]
Inside the bustling party, we bump into the likes of Edie Campbell, Caroline Sieber and David Gandy sipping on ‘Belstaff’ cocktails. We join them in admiring the brand’s new London flagship, which is pretty impressive at no less than 26,000 square feet. But most impressive is the news that David Beckham is the new Belstaff star.
Yes, Becks has been signed up for the Spring Summer 2014 campaign, which will be photographed by Peter Lindberg and inspired by the late great Belstaff aficionado Steve McQueen. And this is the very reason why he, and we, are here - to talk about his Belstaff role and grill him on all things biker chic - but that doesn't mean we can't slip in a few questions about family life, right?
Amid the heaving crowd, we spot that slick quiff and squeeze through the scrum for our date with David. He's admiring the leather goods with his mum and sister and looks as dashing as ever in a padded black leather jacket over a white T-shirt. Gulp.

'Hi David, this is pretty crazy,' we say referring to the 700-strong crowd snapping at him with a sea of mobile phones. He looks nonplussed and calmly shakes our hands while flashing that infamous, dazzling grin. Double gulp. 'You must be used to it,' we say.
'You don't get used to it but it does become more enjoyable,' he replies, shrugging his shoulders. 'When you're at an event for such a great British brand like Belstaff, it feels special to be a part of it.' Indeed, Belstaff is steeped in British heritage and since being bought by Harry Slatkin and Tommy Hilfiger in 2011, it's firmly re-positioned itself as a luxury lifestyle brand offering both women’s and men’s ready to wear, outerwear, handbags, shoes and accessories. And Beckham is the ideal candidate to add a modern twist.
'I began wearing a lot of Belstaff a few years back when I started riding bikes,' David says. 'I actually found my first [Belstaff jacket] when I was shopping in a vintage store, funnily enough, about six or seven years ago and I still wear that when I'm riding.' Of course, Becks is a keen biker and is often spotted racing around the streets of London in his leathers. Is it this connection that appealed to him about working with the brand?
'It was one of the reasons but obviously I love being able to work with a great brand with a lot of history and obviously when they're British brands, it's even better.'. As for whether he'd do a Ewan McGregor and bike around the world, David has his hands full with looking after a family. 'I've got four kids to get to school and pick up from school so if I ever find the time, yeah maybe.'
Speaking of keeping himself occupied now that he's not on the football pitch, will David turn his hand to designing for Belstaff as he has done for H&M? 'I'm very busy with the Bodywear line [for H&M] and with a new collection coming out soon,' he says. Well, that's not a no...
David Beckham and Anna Wintour at the Belstaff House opening [Belstaff]
Considering David is becoming chummier by the minute with fashion queen Anna Wintour, it wouldn't be a surprise if he expands his empire much like his wife. The US Vogue editor arrived at the event this evening, following her FROW-hopping at London Fashion Week, and was more than happy to cosy up with Becks - we can hardly blame the girl.
It was only last week that the pair were nattering away at Victoria's Spring Summer 2014 show in New York, when David was bouncing little Harper on his knee. What we want to know is: what do the ex-footie star and notoriously icy editor talk about? 'We spoke about the show and other things that were happening in New York that week. And the tennis because she's a big lover of tennis,' says David. So now you know.
We have just enough time to ask him about those acting rumours. Please say it's true! 'To be honest, I'm not an actor. I've not really thought about it. I've been offered a few things over the years but I'm going to stick with what I'm doing at the moment.' This is a shame but hey, David Beckham has just spoken to us! We are on cloud nine.
