Our love of Coachella style hunting is ever-growing. The festival is the first of the year, laying the groundwork for our summer shopping for the rest of the season as the celebs of the Californian fest inspire us with their selfies. Whilst we've already dissected the controversial style statements there's a plethora of finishes, fabrics and details that require further exploration - so here goes!
1. The Cutout Mini-dress

Lea Michele in Lacoste, Harley Viera-Newton in Topshop and Kate Hudson in the original - Carven - all look super cute in their cutout mini dresses. This trend has been on the catwalk for a few seasons now but it's smart and sporty vibe is less familiar with the festival scene. We salute these little ladies for eschewing the over-boho thing and donning a city girl look - clean and minimal (well you can be when you get dressed at a hotel and drive 2 hours out into the desert each day), we like.
2. Fringe Finishes

Poppy held her hen-do at Coachella, or should we say, Popchella - as if you didn't know. And her outfit du jour was a bespoke fringed leather number by Superdry, who very kindly hosted the party for her and the likes of Sienna Miller, Emma Roberts and her sister Cara, naturally. Artist Aluna Francis and Kate Hudson both donned the fabulous '70s edging too - all of them looking more contemporary than cowgirl. Howdy ladies...
3. Top-To-Toe Lace and Crochet

This option may look less contemporary than style rules 1 and 2 above but we do rather like these witchy looks for a festival. The look is also, conveniently - if you're a hot celeb always desperate to expose your flesh - an easily ventilated ensemble. Big pants essential.
4. Totally Tropical Prints

Whilst we were seething to miss Queen B's appearance on stage with her little sis, Solange, we did take time to notice her matchy printed satin. Ms Perry meanwhile opted for a rather demure monochrome take on the trend, impressive. We liked Harley V-N's tropical Topshop combo too, her mannish shirt layered over a matchy dress = unconventional Coachella dressing. 10 points.
5. The Plaits

OK so technically a beauty trend but this one can be attached to clothing too so we're going with it. Plus hair is one of your best accessories. These stars show us the vast range of the powerful plait - sleek and clean, girly and boho or punky and pink. This touch will transform an outfit by setting it off-balance, just so.
