We're very much enjoying the prospect of having Cheryl Cole back in our lives, and on our telly screens. At last, she's buried the hatchet with Simon Cowell and is heading back to the X Factor for another series of Geordie quips, tears and minxy outfits. Chez has already got a new 'do and if the promo outing yesterday is anything to go by, her style has stepped up a notch too.
Because who could forget that, umm, arresting ensemble Cheryl wore for her first day on the US X Factor? The purple flares! The frilly orange top! The back-combed bouffant! Yikes. It's worlds away from the sleek 'n' chic ensemble she wore yesterday. Rather than sporting a teeny bandage dress or an outlandish colour palette, she chose a pared-back black dress topped off with killer Louboutin heels and her sleek blonde tresses. Does this mean we're in for a parade of sartorial treats from Cheryl this time round? Here's hoping.

There's no denying one of the reasons we loved the X Factor back in the day was because of Chez and her girlie style. She rocked everything from Julien Macdonald to Matthew Williamson and brought the likes of David Koma to the world's attention with that notorious 'bin lid' dress. Yes, we've had Nicole Scherzinger in Victoria Beckham frocks to keep us entertained but, let's be honest, it's not been the same.
So what can we expect this time round? Cheryl's style has certainly matured in recent years after going through a period of continual crazy print clashes and jazzy harem pants. She's left the riotous mash-up of Pam Hogg space jumpsuits and tropical leggings behind, flipping her style 180 degrees and going über-minimal. Take this CC outfit for example, which consisted of a jumper by The Row, a Proenza Schouler clutch, Helmut Lang skirts and Narciso Rodriguez shoes. Score! Add to this understated makeup as well as a killer Tracy Anderson-honed bod and us fashion fans are duly excited.

And let's not forget that since her first stint on the X Factor, Cheryl has also hit the red carpet at Cannes, bagged even more L'Oreal campaigns and designed her own range of shoes for Stylistpick. Cheryl also popped up at Milan Fashion Week for the Roberto Cavalli show last month, indicating that she's calling in the designer big guns this time round.
