There are few things in the world that get us more hot under the collar than a Chanel show, so imagine our excitement for today’s Pre-Fall collection which is being presented in the Arabian desert on Chanel’s very own island in the Dubai environs.
Now, King Karl has pulled out the stops before – who could forget last season’s Chanel supermarket or the Chanel Aeroplane set for S/S 2012 Couture? This time around for the Pre-Fall 2014 extravaganza, Monsieur Lagerfeld has created a purpose-built venue on Chanel island.

Grazia’s Executive Fashion & Beauty Director Charlie Miller has jetted to Dubai to join the Chanel festivities and is live tweeting from the show as we speak. Arriving by boat to the desert monolith, Chanel's guests were greeted by traditional bedouin tents and musicians for drinks before the show. Upon entering the enromous venue showspace which is replete with palm trees (bien sur) you can see that the catwalk has been organised around sunken seats.

Elsewhere tables are groaning under the weight of the Arabian feast which will be served post show. As for the fashionable audience, insiders like uber editrice Carine Roitfeld rubbed shoulders with FROW stars while every little detail from the double C wallcoverings to the super chic carpeted catwalk has been given the Chanel stamp of approval.

Of course Karl Lagerfeld was in the building, keeping a careful eye on proceedings as a collection of glamorous floaty gowns and chic top-and-trouser combinations headed down the runway. Also on the front row - Tilda Swinton and Vanessa Paradis, who looked divine in white. The actress caught up with Karl for a chat after the show.
