Last night was the Royal Premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in London, and although we were a leeetle bit sad that a pregnant Kate Middleton was too sick to attend and Prince William had to come on his own, we were in awe of Cate Blanchett's white Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci white Spring Summer 2013 gown. Anyone else inspired to try out winter white?
Cate was yet another Hollywood actress to brave the freezing red carpet in Leicester Square. This time last week, it was Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried who arrived for the premiere of Les Miserables before Rosamund Pike did the same for the Jack Reacher premiere. Cate, however, was surely the savviest red carpet-er, opting for a long-sleeved, high necked gown from the French fashion house. Anne Hathaway also opted for Givenchy when she arrived in London and showcased her new crop in a backless gown. Similiarly, Cate's frock was no plain column dress - oh no. It featured side slits, metal touches on the shoulders and a dramatic open back. She's just as fashion-forward as ever.
La Blanchett paired the look with a white Givenchy clutch and some Givenchy spring 2013 sandals. Cate then kept her make up look nice and simple wearing a simple chignon and nude lip, keeping all the attention on the statement dress. Anyone else think this is one of the best Cate Blanchett looks, well, ever?
This certainly isn't the first time Cate has chosen to wear Givenchy on the red carpet and she is not afraid of trying out their more daring designs. Remember back in 2011 when she wore a lilac chiffon gown gown with contrasting yellow beading?
