Carine and Julia Roitfeld for Givenchy

Carine and Julia Roitfeld for Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci's latest campaign

They are well known as one of fashion’s most enviably chic familes, and now Carine Roitfeld has appeared in, (as well as having styled), the latest Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci campaign, which is for Autumn/Winter 2013-14.

Wow. A more surprising choice for the ads was Hollywood actress Amanda Seyfried – not one we’d normally associate with the gothic splendor and rebellious edge of Tisci’s amazing visions, although we have to say we are loving the shots, and desperately wondering if we will have saved up enough cash for the Bambi sweater by the time the goods hit the shops.

The theme of the campaign is family values and love, according to Givenchy's creative director, Riccardo Tisci; ‘[photographers] Mert & Marcus, [hairstylist] Luigi, [makeup] Lucia, Carine,... These people are my family. They have always believed in me. They are very faithful to me. Faithfulness and love are the most amazing things in what I want to do. . . This time, there is a gypsy feeling because it is the inspiration of the collection. Again, the reality of someone like Carine with her daughter showing real love or Quim with Amanda is very special to me. All of them, including the models, are real gypsies in their own life. They are never in one place. They travel the world. It is a real relationship, not only physically, but also with a content even when far away...’

Ah. He’s a real philosopher as well as designer, that one!

In other Roitfeld-related stories, Carine and Julia have both been in Cannes, prepping like mad for the decadant-beyond-words-sounding amfAR gala fashion show–which will be an all-gold tribute to Elizabeth Taylor! Wow. The line up will comprise of custom-made gold creations by labels like Christian Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Valentino, and more.

Last month, Roitfeld explained the event’s gold theme to WWD, saying, “When you think of [Elizabeth Taylor] in Cleopatra, you have this very powerful image of gold and beauty.’

The gala takes place today, so stand by for the glittering gold images, as we get them!
