We're barely in February, but it's already clear that 2013 is Cara Delevingne's year. Seriously, this girl is EVERYwhere and we're very happy for it. Today, Cara adds another accolade to her bulging CV: she's the new face of Pepe Jeans London. Yes! It's a fitting choice considering the tomboy model practically lives in laid back denim - when she's not stalking the catwalks in Chanel, that is. She follows in the footsteps of fellow Instagram Queen and previous Pepe face, Alexa Chung, proving that Cara really is this year's 'It Brit'.
The brand is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year so understandably Pepe Jeans London wanted to sign up the model of the moment for the campaign. The first look at the ad [above] sees Cara striking a pose wearing a grungey studded waistcoat over a rocker-esque vest with low-slung printed shorts. Her enviable pout is firmly in place, her brows are looking more magnificent than ever and her long blonde locks are artfully disheveled. There's also a complementary campaign film starring Lady Delevingne darting around the streets of London in skinnys and heels looking for the allusive 'Pepe' [scroll down to watch]. Is there anyone cooler than Cara right now? We think not.
Grazia Daily grabbed an exclusive chat with Cara to talk about her new role, her fashion week highlights and what makes her heart beat faster...
Grazia Daily: Your style works brilliantly with Pepe Jeans London - why do you think this is the perfect fit?
Cara Delevingne: I am very happy to be part of the Pepe Jeans team, considering the line up before me – Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller. My style is a mixture of both although I’m more tomboyish than either of them.
Grazia Daily: What do you most enjoy about shooting the Pepe Jeans campaign?
Cara Delevingne: Working with Josh Olins who is brilliant and lovely.
Grazia Daily: Which denim pieces can you not live without?
Cara Delevingne: Definitely skinny jeans.
Grazia Daily: What's your favourite way to style skinny jeans?
Cara Delevingne: Oh I just wear them with trainers or boots, t.shirts and my leather jkt.
Grazia Daily: Will you be wearing colored jeans this summer? If so what colors?
Cara Delevingne: I’ll be wearing really light blue jeans, but I love any coloured jeans, I would love some multi coloured jeans
Grazia Daily: Who are your favourite British fashion icons?
Cara Delevingne: Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Alexa Chung
Grazia Daily: What's your greatest fashion week memory?
Cara Delevingne: Opening the Chanel show in Versailles was exceptional, you only get to find out if you are actually opening the show moments before, and it’s nerve wracking and thrilling and brilliant
Grazia Daily: How would you describe London Fashion with only one word?
Cara Delevingne: I need more words! For London, it’s original, creative, iconic, influential, graphic.
Grazia Daily: New York fashion?
Cara Delevingne: New York is unique, edgy, definitive, organised.
Grazia Daily: French fashion?
Cara Delevingne: Paris is classic, elegant, timeless, tres chic.
Grazia Daily: What makes your heart beat faster - acting, modelling or playing the drums?
Cara Delevingne: I love to sing, and obviously playing the drums makes my heart beat loud, it’s incredibly physical. Playing Anna Karenina was probably the best days of my career and made me want to do a lot more acting.
