Providing the backdrop for the world’s glitziest red carpet, the Cannes Film Festival is one of the most glamorous events of the year. With Nicole and Carey et al wowing the crowds with their gowns and diamonds, and the chic set in town to take in the films and fashion, packing for a trip to La Croisette is somewhat stressful.
Look 3 (Left): Black vest by Tibi, skorts by Zara, ankle strap sandals by Preen for Aldo, clutch by Karen Millen. Look 4 (Right): Pink silk shorts by Topshop, Blue t-shirt by Sandro, sandals as before.
Aside from the frocks and heels, there are plenty of sartorial obstacles. For example, shorts and tiny hemlines are almost de rigueur but if you’re looking to get aboard one of Cannes’ floating party palaces, heels are verboten on deck – meaning you cant rely on the leg lengthening properties of stilettos.
As we saw from the last week’s sopping wet red carpet, Festival weather can be iffy with rain often interrupting the Cote d’Azur sunshine – so it can’t all be summer holiday wear. There are also all kinds of occasions – from day time interviews to va va voom parties. Here, Grazia’s Senior Fashion News & Features Editor Katherine Ormerod shares her Cannes wardrobe below – how do you rate what she’s packed?
