The Burberry family is a tight knit (and breathtakingly beautiful) one, with Sienna Miller, Eddie Redmayne, Cara Delevingne, Kate Moss and the Beckhams firmly entrenched in the Christopher Bailey crew. The chief creative officer has opened up about Burberry's youngest family members, Romeo Beckham and Cara Delevingne in an interview with The Times.
So how did Romeo find his way into his Burberry metallic bomber? Bailey said that the campaign with cute-as-a-button Becks was just 'one of those things.' He revealed that: 'I was having breakfast or something with Victoria a few years ago, and we talked about Romeo loving fashion and that we should do something together.'
Mr Bailey was impressed by Romeo's cheeky poses with a Burbs check umbrella as he gushed: 'He was an absolute dream to work with. Honestly, he is the sweetest. Genuinely. So well brought up. I’ve known Victoria and those guys for quite a long time; they are just lovely, grounded, gentle, well-mannered little kids. Romeo loves fashion, completely loves it. He had a real opinion; he was so involved in what he was wearing. And he was so well mannered and humble — he would never say ‘I don’t like this’, but he would say ‘Hmm, maybe something else’.
We spoke to Christopher Bailey about the Beckham brood back at London Fashion Week and he grinned 'They're an incredible family and I'm always impressed by Romeo's enormously talented parents. They've been able to bring up the most beautifully mannered kids and I'm full of admiration for that.' But when we suggested a Beckham family/ Burberry collab he said: 'I'm not sure about that!'
Christopher Bailey also has a real soft spot for Burberry girl Cara Delevingne as he said that: 'Cara is über professional. She enjoys it. She has no airs and graces at all. She is very kind. No matter how high her star is in the sky, if she comes in here she is exactly the same with everyone she has always worked with. I feel very protective over her.' So uncle Chris has also landed the job as chief Delevingner.
Burberry is a brand with a big heart, with their heart-rendering soundtracks and shirts splattered with teeny tiny heart motifs - they even brought back the love letter with the Burberry Kisses project. In the Times interview Christopher Bailey shows off his soft side revealing that he was in 'floods of tears' when Tom Odell rehearsed for the Burbs Fall 2013 womenswear show. Good to know we're not the only ones who shed a Burberry tear or two.
Burbs is returning to London for the mens shows this week after more than ten years of showing in Milan, so get the tissues ready for another tear-jerking Burberry soundtrack when the Burberry Prorsum hits LCM tomorrow.
