You can understand why the British Fashion Awards are the highlight of our calendar year. Yes the Met Gala brings gown glamour galore and the Oscars leave us bleary eyed as we stay up to see which tinseltown starlets are wearing what on the red carpet, but when it comes to homegrown talent - of which we have bags full - there's nothing quite like the UK style celebrations.
The ceremony brings together the great and good of British fashion as well as a few fabulous outsiders - this year that would be Donatella Versace - for a night that pays homage to our finest designers, models, industry insiders and style icons. Tonight we saw Alexa Chung - who sat next to Poppy Delevingne during the show - wearing a little white Stella McCartney dress as she handed her British Style Award crown over to a new recipient - and there was only one person she has in mind for the honour. Yes he of the big quiff, Harry Styles. Alexa told us before the ceremony that she was rooting for the One Direction heartthrob and low and behold he won the public vote making him officially the most stylish fella in all of Blighty.
Meanwhile Poppy Delevingne looked stunning in Emilia Wickstead, despite being in recovery mode following her blinder of a hen do last weekend. Poppy exclaimed, 'I don't know how I made it here tonight', but then again she did have half of the British Fashion Awards guest list at her bridal bash, including Alexa, Harry and Sienna Miller she could hardly pull a sickie.
Kate Moss defied her 39 years of age as she posed on the red carpet alongside singer Rita Ora and made a beeline for Mr Styles whom she kissed on the cheek. The supermodel was stationed next to Donatella Versace during the dinner and then was presented a gong for Special Recognition by the British Fashion Council via a very distinguished guest, designer Marc Jacobs!
