British Fashion Awards 2013: Nicholas Kirkwood Wins Accessory Designer Of The Year

02 December 2013 by

The master of shoes Nicholas Kirkwood was just named Accessory Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, presented by the fabulous Rita Ora. The designer is no stranger to the BFA podium, as this is the third time that the designer has received this award.

It’s been quite a year for Mr Kirkwood as VMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton bought a majority stake in the label. This sees the launch of a Kirkwood handbag line (squeal!) and the development of his retail. His heels are now stocked internationally by over 150 retailers.

The Central Saint Martins graduate launched his label in 2005 and his stilettos have been walked down 100 runway shows, including Erdem, Peter Pilotto, Roksanda and Victoria's Secret. Plus Kirkwood has been the creative director of Pollini since 2010.

His architectural designs are a red carpet hit and have been worn by Sarah Jessica Parker, Alexa Chung, Solange Knowles and Miranda Kerr. Nicholas told us that he was most excited about Tilda Swinton wearing his designs, as ‘she has always been a style icon for me and is definitely in the mix as one of my many muses.’
