Stars who pick up a Brit Award next year will have two reasons to celebrate. Other than, you know, winning a Brit Award, they will have a Philip Treacy original in their paws as the designer has created the 2014 statue.

As you might expect, the award is a little bit hatty, as the slick statue is given a circular grey and white headpiece. The designer said about his modern design: 'My inspiration for the trophy comes from a uniquely British genre of music, Punk.'

Mr Treacy is following on from Vivienne Westwood, Damien Hirst and Sir Peter Blake who have all given the Brit a makeover. Philip said of the gig: 'Music has always been my inspiration and I’m fortunate to have worked with some of the music industry’s greatest artists.'

It's a natural fit as he has worked closely with musicians including Madonna, Cheryl Cole, Grace Jones and Lady Gaga. Gaga's floral helmet was the work of Mr Treacy. His Spring 2013 show was a tribute to music, as models wore original costumes by Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga welcomed FROW-ers to the show in a hot pink burqa.

In other Brits news, it has been confirmed that the show will be opened by British band, the Arctic Monkeys, and Katy Perry will make her first ever performance at the Brits. Can you say MAJ-OR!?

Plus James Corden will return as host for the fifth and final time, making him the longest serving presenter in Brits history. Bring on Wednesday 19th February!
