Beyoncé Givenchy, Alexander McQueen and Armani Privé at previous Costume Institute Galas
When we think of Beyoncé a lot of words come to mind. ‘Hot mama’, ‘bootylicious businesswoman’, ‘superstar diva’, ‘Mrs Jay-Z’, the list is endless, but ‘punk icon’ is not on it. That may be about to change as the singer has been named an honorary chair for this year's punk-themed Costume Institute Gala taking place in New York on May 6. Bey, who last year attended the Gala wearing a see-through gown by Givenchy will join the brand's designer Riccardo Tisci, along with actress Rooney Mara, US Vogue contributing editor Lauren Santo Domingo and US Vogue editor Anna Wintour who were originally named to chair the style extravaganza.
The mother-of-one has been a guest at three past Costume Institute Galas including last year's 'Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations' event. She also joined her husband on the red carpet at the 'Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty' gala in 2011 where she wore a black and gold embellished McQueen dress and the 'Super Heroes: Fashion and Fantasy' gala in 2008 wearing a pink strapless Armani Privé gown. Considering Tisci is co-chairing this year's event we think it's likely that the star will wear another Givenchy look, but despite the rock 'n' roll theme it will have to be something super fitted and sexy to show off those signature curves.
Last year Diane Kruger, Rihanna and Kate Bosworth were in attendance so Beyoncé should have stylish company.
