Keirnan Shipka in Delpozo

Keirnan looked oh so pretty and age appropriate in a Spring 2014 Delpozo floral frock with a full A line skirt and embellished overlay.

How cute is the colourful floral bodice? We also love her hair swept back into a casual pony.

Cat Deeley in Armani

January Jones in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci

The Mad Men star upped the glam factor with pinned curls, lilac lids and a petal pink Givenchy lace number.

Kerry Washington in Marchesa

Kerry is usually a red carpet dare devil, but she showed off her romantic side at the Emmys in a nude floral Marchesa gown with an empire waist. There is sparkle, there is embellishment, there is tulle - it's the Marchesa mothership.

Kerry wore a Edie Parker pearl box clutch and Fred Leighton jewels with her Marchesa froth.

Lena Dunham in Prada

Lena Dunham surprised us by wearing Prada rather than her old faithful, Erdem. She opted for a teal floral silk ball-gown with a plunging neckline and mahoosive skirt. What's your verdict?

Lena kept it quirky with matching teal eye-shadow and her fairytale tattoos out for all to see.

Heidi Klum in Atelier Versace

The supermodel stuck to what she knows in heavily embellished Versace. We have lost count of how many times this lady has worn body conscious sequins.

Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang

Sofia was a siren (natch) at the Emmys in a smoking hot red Vera Wang gown with colour-block jewel earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. You can always rely on the Vergara to up the sex factor.

Zooey Deschanel in J. Mendel

Zoeey led the pastel crew in a icy blue J. Mendel gown, with an Angelina thigh-high slit and waist bow detailing. Zooey said of the frock: 'It was the first one I saw on the rack and it was perfect.'

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey was a real sparkler wearing a giant Chanel rock and an embellished Edie Parker clutch. Zooey also had her nails red-carpet ready with monochrome print nail-art.

Mindy Kaling in Edition by Georges Chakra

Our favourite funny girl Mindy wore a plum body-skimming gown with a jewelled neckline and carried a Jerome C. Rousseau box clutch.

Michelle Dockery in Prada

The Downton Abbey star wore a two-tone Prada gown in red carpet red and burgundy. It features a halter neck, Nicole Kidman-style bow detailing, a flowing train and a slight mullet hem.

Morgan Saylor in Honor

Homeland starlet Morgan wore a monochrome Honor gown with a red box clutch. It is the accessory of the Emmys don't cha know.

Zosia Mamet in Honor

Shoshanna, sorry Zosia, wore a printed floral Honor gown with black leather detailing at the bust. It is like punk meets Impressionism.

Tina Fey in Narcisco Rodriguez

Tina Fey is another star who embraced the halter at the Emmys, in a blue body-skimming Narcisco number.

Connie Britton in Naeem Khan

Nashville star Connie Britton welcomed winter in a blue velvet gown with heavy gold detailing. She said on the red carpet 'Let me just say my jewelry is worth more than I am.' She wins the award for the biggest risk-taker - but did her style gamble pay off? Hmm...

Rose Byrne in Calvin Klein Collection

The pastel parade continues with Rose Byrne in a pink column frock by Calvin Klein Collection with rib-grazing cut outs and a simple halter neckline.

Claire Danes in Armani Prive

Claire Danes kept it frothy in a nude Armani Prive gown with a lace skirt and plunging shimmered bodice. But it's the new bob that really has our attention.

Kelly Osbourne in Jenny Packham

E! host Kelly went matchy matchy with the red carpet in a pillar box floor-sweeper with a plunging neckline and capped sleeves.

Last night was the 65 Primetime Emmy Awards, which means we woke up to plenty of floor-sweepers to drool over. So what did the TV starlets wear for their first red carpet of the season?

Lena Dunham wore a plunging teal floral Prada ball-gown and tweeted earlier in the day that her sister said it looks like: ‘Delia’s catalogue made a red carpet dress.’ Her co-star Allison Williams wore strapless cerulean Ralph Lauren and Zosia Mamet (that's Shoshanna in case you don't know) wore a flowing print-tastic Honor gown with leather bra cups (yup, really).

Zooey Deschanel led the pastel crew in a baby blue J. Mendel and award winner Claire Danes stuck to her style DNA in frothy Armani Prive. Keirnan Shipka looked oh so pretty in a Spring 2014 Delpozo floral frock with a full A line skirt and embellished overlay. Speaking of pastels, Rose Byrne wore a petal pink Calvin Klein Collection frock with rib-grazing cut outs.

There are some heated debates going down here at Grazia Towers - was Connie Britton dressed as a carpet? Is Keirnan Shipka the best dressed 13 year old EVER? Did Lena Dunham make one big mistake? And the most important question, who was the best dressed of the night? Our fashion jury is in session as we type rating all of the looks, so stay right here for our detailed dissection of the frocks.

Take a look through the gallery above to see all the stars on the red carpet at the Emmys...
