There are so many reasons why honey-haired style maven Olivia Palermo will have grabbed the number three spot in Grazia's best dressed list of 2013. From the glamourpuss we saw swathed in Roberto Cavalli at Cannes Film Festival to a 1970s Chloe look for fashion week, many a perfect Palermo-ment has been created over the past twelve months. But to crack her successful code and For a flavour of why our favourite glossy New Yorker made it into the big leagues for the zillionth year running, here's five explanations to her sartorial success:
She's never scruffy. Could you really imagine this lady in sweatpants and a beanie? Hell no. Even her dog walking ensembles are something to be admired. That doesn't mean she can't do casual - ripped skinny jeans and flat jazz shoes can be instantly sharpened with a tweed jacket and white shirt.
Her other half is equally well turned out. Joannes Huebl not only gets involved in taking pictures for oliviad's fashion and lifestyle website okiviapalermo.com but he's a more perfect accessory than a 2.55. Reliably suave, never OTT and matchy within a loose dress code.
She's not afraid to experiment. Her neon orange peplum’d top and skinny trousers from MSGM were a particularly high point this summer. And more recently a fringed skirt and lumberjacket shirt with a boho coin belt sounds bonkers on paper, but looks luxe on Olivia.
Her ability to rewear can inspire the smallest of wardrobes. Even though we're certain she's owner of a supersize wardrobe OP doesn't rely on Boxfresh fashion each and every day. Like Kate Moss or Alexa Chung, a skill for locating your all-time top pieces, investing in them and restyling them for this season is a formula for ensuring the longevity of ones identity. Olivia's trusted re-wearers include Stuart Weitzman's 50/50 boots, Wunderkind cat-eye sunglasses and AG jeans.
She always finds the best stuff on the high street. Zara, Topshop and Whistles are Olivia's go-tos for a fast fix. Remember the boom of Zara's bucket tote? That pretty much started with Palermo.
