Alexa Chung's new take on ladylike [Rex]
She’s a perennial favourite on best-dressed lists around the globe – but what put Alexa Chung on your radar this year dear readers? Surely the launch of her book ‘It’ was a sufficient reminder of her standing in this fashion biz? With the self-penned and illustrated hardback came a series of book signings and promos – the ultimate fodder to feed our fashion hungry appetites.
From the British Fashion Awards to the streets of her part-time home in NYC the Chungster has managed to remix a ratio of boyish with ladylike: we’re talking pencil skirts with buttoned-up shirts and shoulder-robed biker jacket, or a girlish mesh dress worn with smoking slippers. She’s played the role of Brit fashion ambassador to the max, choosing brilliant designs from the likes of Simone Rocha, Christopher Kane and Erdem to sit alongside the couture deliveries from Chanel, divine creations from Valentino and cute Parisian pieces from Carven.
Known for her trend setting abilities Alexa’s must-have making machine has been working double time this year: teddy bear coats, winter florals, leopard boots and the sequin skirt + jumper formula.
Miss Chung has even been a Grazia cover girl – showcasing the resort season’s very best British designer offerings for the magazine’s first ever pre-spring special edition. She revealed to us her basic, but effective, shopping mantra: ‘never buy something you don’t like’ which nicely sums up the effortlessness of this style guru, don’t you think?
