With Lena Dunham, creator of Girls, and Breaking Bad actress Anna Gunn donning clutches referencing their respective shows, could the TV clutch bag be the new 'It' bag?

Actress Anna Gunn, who plays Skyler White in the award-winning drama Breaking Bad, caused a stir amongst both fashionistas and fans when she was spotted carrying a black acrylic Edie Parker clutch bag adorned with the shows periodic-table logo at the SAG Awards earlier this month. Teaming the tongue-in-cheek, albeit very chic, clutch with a blue sequined Monique Lhuillier gown, Gunn’s bag seemed like a unique masterpiece of TV-meets-fashion. However, when just a few days later, Lena Dunham posted a photo of her new rainbow-lettered Charlotte Olympia Girls clutch on Instagram, we spotted a trend.

Brett Heyman, the founder of cult clutch bag brand Edie Parker told The Hollywood Reporter, "I'm a huge fan of Breaking Bad and of the gorgeous and talented Anna Gunn." He went on to add, "Anna has been very supportive and we wanted to make her something as lasting and unforgettable as her performance to celebrate her SAG nomination."
Whilst Anna Gunn’s clutch is a bespoke one-of-a-kind piece, Lena Dunham’s homage is part of Charlotte Olympia’s Pre-fall 2014 collection. The Girls Pandora clutch bag will be available to snap-up from April to the tune of £900; begging the question, is this just a passing celebrity fad? Or will we all be sartorially promoting our naturally, very refined, TV taste come Spring? Corrie clutch anyone?
