Back To '60s Style: Banana Republic's Mad Men Collection Is Now Available!

07 March 2013 by

Crazy about Mad Men style? Well you're in luck because Banana Republic's Mad Men capsule collection hit the UK this week and they've only gone and bagged model Coco Rocha as the face!

It's the third time that the brand has worked with Mad Men's costume designer Janie Bryant to create a retro-inspired collection, but this time they've looked back to the '60s. The latest offering is a mod-tastic explosion of bold prints, shorter silhouettes and bright colours. As Bryant says, the collection is all about 'new silhouettes, hemlines being shorter, the shift dress... the bold colours, the geometric shapes.' LOVE! As for the inspiration behind the look, the Emmy Award winning costume designer said, 'The inspiration was taken by Megan Draper because we wanted to do a collection that we could see the change in fashion and she was the character that had inspired us to do that.'

For the campaign, Coco is transformed into the perfect '60s siren with winged eye-liner, a block fringe and a blowdried flicky 'do. So what's Coco's favourite piece? A necklace which she wore as a belt to the launch at The Grove in LA earlier this month. The model also revealed that she loves 'the bright colours, the accessories, the shoes - everything about it just screams Mad Men to me.'

As for what it is about the hit TV show, Coco had this to say: 'The idea of a show like Mad Men gets people, I love it, we look at that show and we all dream of being in such a world. The fashion is so beautiful and we just think wow if only I could be a part of that. The fact that people can be part in Mad Men in some sort of way and wear the clothing, it makes them feel like they're part of the show and that world.'

Now all we need is Don Draper. Take a look at the full campaign in the gallery above.
