The Exclusive Skinny On ASOS New Denim Styles: Which Cut Suits Your Butt?

22 February 2013 by

It’s a good season for denim – Miu Miu, Balmain and Ashish made sure this humble fabric played a high fashion part in their runway collections for spring summer 2013. So we can’t blame the clever fashion folk at [a target="_blank" href="">[/a] for choosing this moment to relaunch their jean collection with a series of new fits, washes and, so that you get to grips with it all, new names, too. We caught up with ASOS Denim Buyer Abena Akohene to find out the skinny of which pair will suit you. Scroll through the gallery above to see the new styles…

“The [a target="_blank" href="">Ridley [/a]is fabulous for everyone.” Says Abena, “Ultra skinny legs, with a high waist creates a super skinny silhouette from the waist down to the hem. Bottom-lifting back pockets are really flattering. The beauty of this cut is it’s versatility. I’d wear it either a crop top, or long-line knit or smock dress layered on top.”

“Skinnies are still current,” Thinks Abena, “The [a target="_blank" href="">Elgin [/a]is a great one for those who want a more relaxed skinny look.  It’s available in a multitude of washes and colours, so you can throw on an Elgin for whatever your mood, or the occasion. Right now, I’d say pair up with a statement blouse and heels, or relaxed with  long-line bomber jacket and trainers.”

Abena told us, “When cut correctly, flared jeans are amazingly flattering. The proportions and the low rise of these [a target="_blank" href="">Lennox [/a]ones mean your bottom looks great in them! They have an elongating inseam and clever cutting makes leg kick out just where you want it – from front to back and not side to side.” And now to wear them? “With a long line coat and heels for the colder days now, and then cami top and heels for later.”

“The [a target="_blank" href="">Brady [/a]is low rise, relaxed slim boyfriend  silhouette. It’s suitable for anyone who wants the boyfriend look  but with the versatility of a more streamlined silhouette.” Abena told us, “The super soft cotton-rich denims on these are great. You have to roll the hem! And pair with a sweat top and heels, or be casual in trainers.”

“The [a target="_blank" href="">Saxby [/a]is the classic, loose boyfriend  silhouette.” Abena explains,  “For anyone who wants that true slouchy look in authentic vintage washes. It’s a old-skool cut but still flattering on curvy girls. I’d do it with a rolled hem, and cut ankle socks with heels!”
