UPDATE: It seems Prince George is set to have a little playmate in the royal nursery as the Queen's granddaughter, Zara Phillips has given birth to a baby girl. The royal baby, who is now the 16th in line for the British throne is the first child for Zara and her husband - rugby-player Mike Tindall - and the Queen's fourth great grandchild.
The palace released the following statement: "Mrs Michael Tindall today safely delivered a baby girl at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Mr Tindall was present at the birth. The weight of the baby was 7lbs 12oz (3.5 kg). The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike's parents, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby's name will be confirmed in due course."
Congratulations to the new parents! Perhaps they'll get some tips from William and Kate...
8th July: News just in: Paul Harrison, Sky News Royal Correspondent, has taken to Twitter to announce that Zara Phillips - or rather Mrs Tindall - is expecting a baby. Congrats!
This will be Zara's first child with her husband Mike Tindall and the baby is expected to arrive in the New Year assuming the announcement comes 12 weeks into her pregnancy. The family are reportedly delighted with the news.
Zara, the second-eldest grandchild of the Queen, is an avid British equestrian and it was only last Friday that she was competing on her horse, CG Master Lux, in the show jumping phase of the Barbury International Horse Trials at Barbury Castle Estate in Rockley. And just yesterday, she was spotted cheering on Andy Murray as he won at Wimbledon. As yet, there's no sign of a royal bump - but you can bet we'll be keeping our eyes peeled.
The 32-year-old met Mike, a rugby union player, in Australia in 2003 during England's Rugby World Cup-winning campaign. They married eight years later, in July 2011, during a ceremony in Edinburgh when the bride wore a Stewart Parvin dress and the same Meander tiara which her mother wore on her wedding day.
