With months of hard graft and intense dedication, the few minutes of a catwalk show may seem disproportionately important. But it’s the BIG moment; one that every designer hopes will be bordered with the presence of high and mighty industry figures...

So it’s understandable that Mr. Armani would be affronted to find that one of fashion’s leaders should not turn up to his FROW in Milan. Backstage he said revealed his upset at the noticeable absence of US Vogue’s Anna Wintour: “There are some who prefer to snub the Giorgio Armani show and go to Paris. She took an airplane, dumped Mr. Armani and went to Paris.” But rest easy; The Wintour didn’t just ditch him for an early escargot and shopping spree in Colette. And she didn’t have another Newcastle detour… Instead, it would appear she had business to attend to with Burberry’s CEO and Creative Director, Christopher Bailey.

According to WWD’s inside sources, the powerhouse was seen lunching at The Wolseley with the trench coat titan… but what possible fashion business could the pair be hatching that’s so important it takes Anna off schedule? Let’s look at some basic facts: last month’s Vogue cover was Burberry-tastic, thanks to Lena Dunham sporting a polka-dotted shirt from the British label’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Then Anna’s daughter, Bee Shaffer was also ‘spotted’ in the very same version whilst accompanying her mother during NYFW. As for Wintour’s wardrobe, she appears to be a fan of the macs: trying out various incarnations of this classic, from African wax fabrics through to watersnake. The twosome also shares a love for the arts, stepping up to present an award together at the 58th London Theatre Awards in 2012. They certainly make a formidable fashion duo - but how? Mais, this could all be nonsense; perhaps they both share a love for Piccadilly establishment’s top-notch kedgeree…
