Lady Gaga mixes up her looks as usual for her new monsterous video
The wonderfully whacky Lady Gaga has unveiled probably the campest video since Cher’s Turn Back Time to promote her latest single, G.U.Y. How did Lady Gaga manage to trump Cher’s bejewelled one piece and her harem of sassy sailors? Well, with the help of The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills, a bevy of bronzed demi-gods, and of course a number of seriously snazzy outfit changes. #natch! In the video Lady Gaga switches from full on feathers, to blown up bridal to skimpy one pieces to show off that babe town bod all whilst resurrecting Michael Jackson and gyrating around Gaga style! As the singer declared herself when the video premiered, ‘It is like the Gay Super Bowl at our HAUS.’ That is out kind of super bowl! So sit back as we take you on a whistle stop tour of the G.U.Y wardrobe…
Just Chillin' In Jean Paul Gaultier Couture
Perfect For A Summer Wedding, Non? (Catwalking/Streamline Records)
After fluttering around in some feathers and partaking in rather odd water rituals with some synchronised swimmers Lady G emerges from the Grecian pool as a vision in Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2014 couture. The look consists of a very ornate body which has a cabaret girl turned bride vibe about it and one seriously snazzy head piece which is constructed using mountains of feathers and cascading organza. If you are stuck for what to wear to your summer wedding, then look no further than this if you want to make a seriously stylish, yet somewhat chilly, statement. Perfect for an August wedding then non?
A Vision In Versace Jeans
The Best Way To Accessorise Your Versace Jeans? With A Donatella Esque Wig, Natch! (Getty/Versace/Streamline Records)
As the face of the Versace spring/summer 2014 campaign it would be rude not to include some pieces from the brand in one’s music video. For a very suggestive dance sequence, which we are currently learning through intense lunchtime dance rehearsals, the singer is a vision in Versace Jeans and not a lot else. Of course a rather hunky man makes for the perfect accessory to the look and what’s the best way to work Versace? Make sure you have matching hair to Donatella of course!
Laying Around In La Perla And Lynn Ban Jewels
If Gaga Is Going To Gyrate Around On A Bed She Is Going To Do It In Style (La Perla/Streamline Records)
If Lady Gaga is going to gyrate around on a bed, she is of course going to do it in the sassiest of swimsuits. Entrapped in one of THE most OTT bedrooms ever seen, the one woman powerhouse dons a vibrant one piece from La Perla with just enough tulle mesh to keep her backing dancers motivated. The look is topped off with a casual chocker from Lynn Ban, a 14k gold and diamond barbed wire one for that matter!
Beach Babe In VOL and Lynn Ban
Strappy Swimwear Is Totally The Way Forward (VOL/Streamline Records)
A large amount of the video is filmed in the uber camp and seriously sassy, Hearst Castle in California. The Grecian inspired mansion is the perfect backdrop for Gaga’s rather erratic storyline, and during a scene in the tourist attraction’s Roman Pool the singer wears strappy black swimsuit from the emerging Madrid label, POL. Lady G finishes off the look with more jewellery from New York jeweller, Lynn Ban and custom made sandals form Ruthie Davis.
Fabulously Fluffy In Helen Yarmak, Somarta and Aturo Rios
I Woke Up Like This, Just Some More Casual Clothing (Streamline Records)
For a section of the video where Lady Gaga channels her inner man hunter, the star slips into a fabulously fluffy coat from Helen Yarmak. What does Lady Gaga wear underneath? A black and white embroidered body from Somarta, of course! Ever the fan of hats the Queen of the Monsters has a millinery moment in an Aturo Rios feather headpiece. As always the look was given some wardrobe weight with a pair of architectural boots. #fierce has never seen so apt!
Lego Lady in Nathan Sawaya
Someone Obviously Loves Lego Land: "This Old Thing? I Just Threw It On!" (Streamline Records)
With the Chanel Boy Brick being the must have accessory OTM amongst the A-list it’s no surprise that good old Gaga has gone one step further. Not content with just accessorising with pieces inspired by plastic bricks the singer turns herself into a fully-fledged Lego sculpture. The casual piece of clothing was created by Nathan Sawaya, an artist who has been working with the ‘medium’ for ten years. We suddenly have an over whelming urge to skip off to Lego Land…
Lady Gaga: The Care Bear.
There Is Nothing More Cuddly Than A Paper Teddy Bear (Steamline Records)
Laters Care Bears it’s all about the Gaga Bear, slightly less cuddly but hey ho! For another typical out there moment LG turned to Bea Szenfeld, who created a paper couture teddy bear piece for the video. The polish born designer, who is based in Stockholm, creates all of her pieces by hand and the look was completed with a tres practical pair of paper sunnies. Dig out those origami books ladies, this could take off… maybe, perhaps…
Lady Latex In Atsuko Kudo
The Golden Lady Perfect For Her Grecian Girl Image (Streamline Records)
For another scene in the video, LG steps forward in a cut away latex gold body. Of course she is surrounded by a number of scantily dressed dancers who look equally glorious in gold! The designer responsible for this creation is the ruler of latex couture, Atsuko Kudo who also put Miley Cyrus in the infamous beige bra and pants set at the VMA awards last year. The piece does really come to life when Gaga arms herself with a bow and arrow. We are offically worshipping at the altar of Goddess Gaga again!
