Alexander McQueen And Peter Som Cancel Fashion Week Shows

Alexander McQueen SS13 finale and Sarah Burton

As the Grazia fashion team gear up for another four fashion weeks next month, we’ve just learned that one of our favourite shows on the schedule, the Alexander McQueen show will not be taking place in Paris this season.  The label’s creative director, and designer of one of the most famous wedding dresses in history, Sarah Burton, is pregnant and expecting twins, so has decided not to go ahead with a full scale autumn winter 2013 show. Instead the brand will host a small presentation in Paris for a small group of around 100 fashion editors. Although this is totally understandable, and we appload Burton's family-first attitude, we'll definitely miss the beauty and spectacle of the always-extravagent and never disappointing runway show.

We also learned today that New York fashion week regular, Peter Som has cancelled his upcoming catwalk show, when the show’s sponsor hair care brand Wella emailed fashion editors to let them know.  What a depleting show schedule ahead of us! Luckily for us, Mr Tom Ford has decided to break his own tradition of showing his collections in a photographer-less private viewing, and this season will be showing on –schedule to an excitable crowd of up to 1000 people on Monday 18th February. See what we can expect from Tom’s first foray on the London Fashion Week roster here…
