It was a packed party and the champagne was flowing, but we wouldn't expect anything less from fashion world's most popular 'It' girl. It's a shame that Alexa Chung herself wasn't quite so confident about pulling in the crowds ahead of her Liberty book signing yesterday as she tweeted the day before: "Anxiety dream waiting to happen: signing copies of my book 5-7pm at Liberty in LDN tomorrow. Keep me company? #tumbleweed."
As we as attending the GQ Awards on Tuesday, the Fuse News presenter arrived in town from New York this week to launch her debut fashion tome simply titled 'IT'. The coffee table essential is a collection of Alexa's writings, drawings and photographs - basically an A-Z of how to live like Chung, covering everything from her thoughts on life, love and music to her favourite looks and how to decide what to wear in the morning.
At last night's shindig Alexa's stylish pals were treated to snippets from the Chungtastic bible including such pearls as "The opening bars to 'Wannabe' were a call to arms" and "DJing for people is fun until somebody comes up with a phone screen that says PLAY SOME RIHANNA written on it." We wonder if Nick Grimshaw and Daisy Lowe took note of that one as the pair were enlisted to spin tunes at the party, alongside Daisy's little bro Alfie Goffey.
Other friends on hand to celebrate The Chung's success were designers Henry Holland, Christopher Kane and Erdem Moralioglu, models Laura Bailey and Pixie Geldof, and musicians Remi Nicole and Alison Mosshart.
Following the signing with fans, Alexa headed to the 1st floor wearing an outfit by one of her favourite brands, Carven, where she was greeted by friends and family. The entire Chung clan was in attendance including the mummy and daddy Chung, who got into the party spirit and had a go on the decks. The girl of the hour ended the night with this message: "Tonight I launched my book 'It'. Thank you so much to all of my friends. I love you forever, always."
