January has been a rollercoaster of fashion week announcements, starting with the super exciting news that Tom Ford will be doing his first full scale catwalk show in London next month. Then we heard that Peter Som has cancelled his NYFW show, and that pregnant designer Sarah Burton won’t be showing her Alexander McQueen collection in Paris. So now the latest update for our fashion week diaries are in, and sadly for London, one of the most fun shows on the schedule, Acne, won’t be showing their autumn winter collection here.
The label’s creative director Jonny Johansson has recently teamed up with photographer Katerina Jebb and Musée Galliera in an interesting project where Jebb will be scanning and assembling fashion pieces which she and Johansson have collated from the gallery’s archives into collages. The images have now been worked into the ready to wear collection, which will show in Paris this March. The brand already has two stores in the French capital, so will without a doubt get a warm reception amongst its Parisian fan-base.
On the upside, London has gained one MEGA catwalk show which we predict will be the scrum of the season to get into, and that of course is Rihanna’s catwalk show for her River Island collection on February 16 during LFW.
