There are a few things guarenteed each year at the Cannes Film Festival. Stars wearing stilettos on yachts; rows of Roberto Cavalli gowns; beautiful men in tuxedos. One thing we can always count on is that the stars will be drowning in diamonds that cost more than our houses. We have been keeping an eye on the rocks, as well as the frocks, on the red carpet and are bringing you a closer look at the accessories in the gallery above.

Cate Blanchett always brings a quirk to the red carpet, whether that is with an unlikely colour combination or a directional structure. This Film Festival Cate championed shellfish (seriously), as she wore shrimp earrings from Chopard's Animal World collection, which was released to celebrate Chopard's 150th birthday, with a Valentino gown. Out of the 150 animal pieces on offer Cate went for the shrimps, which is most likely a nod to her home Australia - or perhaps the excellent shellfish on offer in the Riviera.
Unlikely shoes at the Cannes Film Festival: Marion Cotillard, Karlie Kloss and Ines de la Fressange [Getty]
It's not just the jewels which have got our attention, as we have spotted some surprising shoes on the red carpet. Marion Cotillard wore chunky black ankle boots with her white Christian Dior dress, while Karlie Kloss wore flat brown leather sandals with her sweeping Valentino lace gown. Ines de la Fressange is also a fan of the flat sandals, as she has been spotted in several pairs of gladiators on the red carpet.
