Best Dressed of 2012: Michelle Obama Bags The Number 10 Spot

Michelle Obama in Tracy Reese at the Demographic National Convention, Sept 2012

Drum roll, please! In the latest issue of Grazia, we proudly announce this year's top 10 best dressed. Our judging panel consists of footwear supremo Manolo Blahnik, fashion designer Zuhair Murad, Grazia's fashion director Susannah Frankel and Grazia's fashion editor Catherine Nieto who trawled through the style stars of the year to narrow down the year's finest dressers. Each day on Grazia Daily, we'll be counting down the top 10 so stay tuned. We begin with Michelle Obama who bagged the No.10 spot...

She’s as at ease in a Fifties style sundress or 7/8 trousers as she is a pencil thin floor length gown. Of all the First Ladies in history (Jackie O, Betty Ford, to name a few), Michelle wins the vote for the sheer scope and democracy of her style. The checked, fifties inspired dress she’s wearing below, for the second time, is from ASOS, so it’s safe to say she’s no fashion snob.

FLOTUS (that’s politico-speak for First Lady Of The United States) was credited by many a journalist for bringing warmth to the Presidential election campaign and her clothes are at least part of that story.

She wore a recycled Michael Kors dress on the big night (there’s more to life than a new frock!), is as comfortable making public appearances in Azzedina Alaia as she is in J Crew (money isn’t everything!) and even finds time to support young talent: Thakoon, Jason Wu, Roksanda Ilincic and Jonathan Saunders have all benefited from this, the ultimate endorsement. “She has changed the way American women see fashion,” US Vogue’s Anna Wintour said recently.  And, closer to home, she’s turned our heads too.
