Andiamo! Let’s go! Milan Fashion Week has just kicked off and we’re molto excited to see some of the industry’s biggest fashion houses in action, eat some big bowls of pasta and discover new Italian talent on both the stylish streets and within a burgeoning new bubble of fresh designers. Here are the things we’re looking forward to…
Anna Dello Russo’s revolving wardrobe:
ADR's magical multicoloured closet [Rex, Rex, Anthea Simms]
On her home turf, its no wonder ADR’s MFW wardrobe always segues into a more advance league. Expect more outfit changes, the addition of her doggy Cucciolina and for the most extravagant show-pieces from Dolce, Prada and Co. to be casually sashayed through the streets.
FABULOUS shoes and bags!
Marni's utility-luxe bags, Tod's belt-shapes, Prada sports shoes [Catwalking]
Fine Italian craftsmanship and the very best leathers means that there’s always a wide selection of killer accessories in the Milan collections. Right now, it’s Prada’s jewelled sportif sandals (flat or heeled), Marni bags and the super-wide belts from Tod’s that we’re lusting after.
Tapping new talent:
Fausto Puglisi, MSGM, Stella Jean, Au Jour Le Jour
No longer just a home for some of the most established and long-standing brands in fashiondom, Italy is now producing young and exciting talent. Supported staunchly by the editors on the FROW, there will be much hype surround Stella Jean, Au Jour Le Jour, MSGM and Emanuel Ungaro’s designer, Fausto Puglisi.
Jeremy Scott’s first Moschino runway:
Jezza has already presented a pre-fall collection via a lookbook, but this Moschino show will be his first full-blown entrée into the Milanese syndicate. His knowing take on the house’s signature logos, boucle suits and gold hardware has already generated a new fanbase for the label and we’re certain this A/W’14 line will do the same again.
Cara walking at Fendi:

She may have not starred in Fendi’s latest ad campaign from S/S’14 after a ponytailed performance the season before, but Karl Lagerfeld will once again enlist the skills of our favourite bushy-browed lady for the show today.
Potential Donatella and Gaga moments:
As Gaga has morphed successfully into looking like Donatella Versace 2.0, we’ll be intrigued to see if this super-fashwan twosome pair up for a fashion week performance. Lady G stars in the latest campaign and the mutual love-in has been growing now for years. Could this be the season that she takes to the catwalk?
The ultra-luxe street style:
NYFW is glossy, Paris is dreamy, London is grungy… but no one does all-out conspicuous luxury quite like the FROWs of MFW. It’s all about the label-checking here, so look out for the latest from all of the top brands, styled to perfection – blown-out hair to pedicured toe.
