The fashpack have just touched down in Paris for the couture shows, arguably the greatest few days in the fashion calendar. Ahead of them are gown after gown, metres of silk and the most exquisite embroidery created by human hand.  If that little list hasn’t got you excited enough here are the five reasons you should be beside yourself as the couture shows kick off this evening with Atelier Versace….

1. The A-list FROW

Last night at the Miu Miu cruise show we got our first taster of who we can expect to be gracing the FROWs during the couture collections.  The Brit ‘It’ girl Alexa Chung was joined by the former face of Miu Miu, Lea Seydoux as well as Gemma Arteton, Uma Thurman, Isla Fisher and Marc Jacobs. How many a listers can one FROW take? We predict a bevy of A listers are jetting into the French capital as we speak…

2. The Chanel Spectacle

Karl Lagerfeld certainly isn’t a man with a shortage of ideas. He’s created a Chanel rodeo, a wind turbine farm and most recently a Chanel supermarket to showcase his latest wears. What’s next we wonder? Well when it comes to Karl we have learnt to expect the unexpected.

3. The Workmanship

This Expert from Dior and I gives an insight on the couture prep (Dior)

Hours upon hours go into making a piece of couture clothing. Shaped entirely by hand the garments which hit the runway are examples of workmanship at the highest level. This expert from the forthcoming Dior and I documentary, which follows Raf Simons in the build up to his first couture collection for the French fashion house, gives us some insight into just how many people are involved in the manufacturing process. We certainly wouldn’t want to be in this situation a night before a show…

4. Marco Zanini at Schiaparelli

This round of couture shows marks Marco Zanini’s second collection for the rejuvenated label, Schiaparelli. Last season’s collection showed a strong statement of intent from the former creative director of Rochas with the 19 looks swinging from bold prints to whacky accessories. However the designer stated that he had to hold back a touch, telling style.com, ‘this is the first one; I didn't want to get drunk with it.’ The signature Schiaparelli lobsters were left at the door on that occasion, perhaps now the designer has found his feet we will behold an even richer treat than last season.

5. The Street Style

Naturally when you are attending the greatest fashion fests on planet earth you have to look ship shape. Last season’s couture shows were treated as a stage upon which the fashion gliteratti unveiled their most fashtastic outfits. Buckle yourselves in fash fans for yet more sassy looks…
