The Venice Film Festival is now in full swing as the waterways have been invaded by the likes of Carey Mulligan, Dakota Fanning and George Clooney. On day one Sandra Bullock started things off in a red strapless gown from the J. Mendel Resort 2014 collection. The silk frock has a twisted bow detailing at the waist and a dramtic, cascading slit. She paired her J. Mendel with Roger Vivier ankle-strap heels and a teeny black clutch. But let's not forget the best accessory of all, her co-star George Mr Clooney, who was glued to her arm.
Italy is doing good things to Sandra Bullock's style, as she has ditched navy and gone all tropical. Earlier in the day she wore a zesty Alex Perry Resort 2014 pencil skirt frock in tangerine, lime and pepto-bismol pink, with gold Giuseppe Zanotti stilettos. Does this remind anyone else of one of those strawberry, orange & pineapple rocket lollies? In a good way of course.
The Miu Miu Women’s Tales screening had a glitzy attendees list, as Carey Mulligan, Freida Pinto and Michelle Dockery hit the red carpet. Carey wore a black silk Miu Miu frock with a white peter pan collar and t-bar heels. While Michelle and Freida matched the red carpet in pillar box Miu Miu - this is the trend of Venice so far.
Dakota Fanning wore a mahoosive Elie Saab navy embellished gown with a deep V to the premiere of Night Moves. Earlier in the day she wore a cream leather mini with oversized pockets by Alexander McQueen to the Night Moves photocall. Next on our best dressed list is Diane Kruger who attended the Jaeger-LeCoultre Gala Dinner in an Alberta Ferretti purple velvet gown. We feel hot just looking at it.
But the best dressed title goes to Scarlett Johansson who gave us fashion goose-bumps in a black Versace gown, with embellished off-the-shoulder sequin and Swarovski straps and a fitted bodice. This could be the most perfect black dress we have ever seen. She paired it with a candy-coloured Bulgari necklace which is almost as fabulous as the frock. Welcome back Scarlett.
While we wait for those water taxis to dock with more A Listers, check out our pick of the greatest fashion moments on the Venice Lido from Madonna's baby blue Vionnet gown to Gwyneth Paltrow's blush Prada bow number.
