8 Reasons Why The Oscars Made Us Love Lupita Nyong'o More Than Ever

[Getty]

At the 2014 Oscars Jennifer Lawrence fell over (AGAIN) and Cate Blanchett was a red carpet queen in Armani. But it was Lupita Nyong'o who, as we predicted, truly stole our hearts. Academy Award winner Lupita (we'll come onto that later), wore a light blue silk custom Prada gown. She said that it was Nairobi blue and so she had brought a 'little bit of home' with her to the Oscars. Here is why we fell for Lupita at last night's ceremony...

1. For working the Prada dress

Miuccia Prada will be proud of her girl Lupita, as she worked her dress like an absolute pro. She wafted while she walked, swirling the metres of fabric as she made her way down the red carpet.

2. For being a real life Disney princess...

Forget the Oscar, Lupita is winning the meme race too. With her princess smile and wafting blue skirt she transformed into Cinderella for the night. We love a girl who can dress like a Disney princess and still look cool.

3. For dancing with Pharrell...

Now THIS makes us happy, happy, happy, happy...

4. For bringing back the headband...

The headband lost its number one cheerleader, Blair Wardolf, when Gossip Girl was cancelled. But its now Lupita on its side, as she wore a simple white aliceband. Love it? Hate it? Let us know your verdict in the comments below...

5. Oh and for winning an OSCAR...

Lupita didn't just win the red carpet race and have a 'You Shall Go To The Ball' moment. She also won an Oscar! In her emotional speech Lupita said: 'It doesn’t escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain I someone else’s. So I want to salute the spirit of Patsey for her guidance and for Solomon thank you for telling her story and your own. Steve [McQueen, director] you charge everything you fashion with a breath of your own spirit.'

7. For the matchy matchy manicure...

Lupita Nyong'o is a fan of matchy matchy styling. Her shoes, dress, clutch and nails are always in an identical colour. On her way to the Oscars Lupita Instagrammed a picture of her baby blue manicure - a little hint of what to expect from her Oscars gown.

8. For spending the night with Brangelina...

Enough said.
