Today's a very special day in the history of romantic movies: it's the 10th anniversary of film The Notebook. Starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, The Notebook came out on June 26, 2004 and has been making grown men and women since ever since.
One Direction have said they're fans of the film, even Gosling's girlfriend Eva Mendes loves the movie. She said in an interview Ellen DeGeneres: '...I'm not a big Valentine's Day person. I'll probably just order a deep dish and watch The Notebook or something. Just cry, weep.'
It's been parodied and mentioned in films like Just Friends and Horrible Bosses and on TV faves like Big Bang Theory, Suburgatory and Saturday Night Live.
It was the movie that made us all think that romance can only happen in intense rain storms, made us think it was okay to lie down in the middle of the road with a boy and not at all creepy for him to send us 365 daily letter AFTER we've broken up. It was also the movie that made us fall in head-over-heels in love with Ryan Gosling.
We could have written an indepth review to celebrate The Notebook's anniversary, reflected on how much has changed since the movie came out, what it taught us about love and how unrealistic it was - but instead we decided to round up our favourite pictures of Ryan so thay we could have a little daydream this afternoon...
