With two Oscars on the mantel piece it seems that Cate Blanchett is after another coveted prize, being named the best dressed lady at the Cannes Film Festival.
Not content with letting Blake Lively take all the red carpet glory last night Cate descended on the infamous red carpet looking oh so glamorous in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci for the premiere of her latest flick, which is somewhat less hard hitting than her usual ones, How To Train Your Dragon 2. The Givenchy gown saw Cate flash some feathers, put on some pleats and cast an illusion via the invisible panels at the back. All of these elements collided to create one of Cate’s strongest looks to date and that is seriously saying something as the actress rarely puts a fash-foot wrong, even though she has a penchant for experimentation.

The Givenchy gown wasn’t the first time Cate flirted with feathers in Cannes and showed an eagle eye for detail. The day before the Oscar winner presented Adele Exarchopoulo with the Trophee Chopard and was a vision in Valentino. The grey and silver embroidered silk gown with its full skirt and intricate detailing was given the Valentino signature via the feathered collar. Cate certainly shook her fashion tail feather on that occasion whilst paying homage to her Australian homeland with shrimp earrings. However those shrimps certainly weren’t suitable for throwing on the barbee!
Just to mix things up and show that she isn’t just a clothing horse for glam gowns the actress attended the photo call for How To Train Your Dragon 2 in terrific two piece from Delpozo. Clearly Cate is a fan of dressing to a theme as the scallop details and the vivid red gave the ensemble a cartoon reptile quality. She isn’t just a pretty face this one!

The actress even managed to channel another altogether different look whilst in Cannes. For the Chopard party Cate took her winning wardrobe down the futuristic path with a Giorgio Armani Prive gown, with fierce shoulders and endless amounts of Swarovski crystals it’s was certainly a dress designed to dazzle. With four knock-out appearances at Cannes we can officially say, we now worship at the attire altar of Cate Blanchett.
