Alexander Wang x H&M

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, up a mountain, the other side of Timbuktu, you will be aware thatAlexander Wang’smuch hyped collaboration with high street stalwart, H&M is due to hit stores this week. And as with all of H&M’s designer tie-ins, it’s going to be an elbows at the ready circus. However, there are provisions that can be made to ensure you a) Get exactly what you want and b) Don’t have a coronary while doing so. Follow our simple tips below and you will be a Wang warrior with none of the war wounds to match.

1. How Much Do You Actually Want Your Wang?

A – BUY ONLINE

If you are 75% interested, set your alarm to 8.30am on Thursday 6th November and make it clear to your employer you will be late in as it may take time to place your order the moment the online store opens. Alternatively ensure you are already at your desk 9am and perform all online transactions while sitting in your place of work. This will require you to keep a lid on any frustrations over pieces selling out/ pay screens freezing etc.

B- BUY INSTORE

If however, you are 100% interested, book the morning off work and get an early night as the sooner you make it to the store line, the more likely you will get everything you want.

The H&M stores stockin the line are as follows...

Birmingham – Bullring Shopping Centre

Edinburgh – 41-43 Princes Street

London – 174-176 Oxford Street

London – 234 Regent Street

London – H&M Selfridges

London – Westfield

London - Westfield Stratford

Manchester – 69-70 Market Street

The way it works is the earlier you arrive, the earlier your time slot in store. You can expect to be issued with wristbands - as soon as you have that golden ticket, you can go and get a coffee/ breakie while you wait for your slot. In the past, the first 280-560 people in line will be put into groups of 20 with each group receiving a different colour wristband. Called by colour, each group will get 10 minutes to shop. From 7am you will be in with a good chance of gaining a wristband at the Regent Street flagship. Come with a friend so you can save each other’s space in the line for loo breaks etc.

Just remember you are limited to a maximum of one of each item…Which leads us to….

2. Do Your Homework

Both your instore timeslot and online window of opportunity are limited meaning you need to be prepped. Spend time with the lookbook and line sheet online and whittle down your priorities. Be realistic – how much can you actually afford /do you really need another yoga mat. Write all of your must-buys down so when you lose your mind in the shopping frenzy you have something to remind you what you actually wanted.

3. Wear Leggings

… and a vest top layered under your sweater/ coat. This will enable you to try everything on without waiting for the changing rooms – a godsend, trust us.

4. Work Out Your Size

You will more likely than not have been into H&M before and own pieces from the high street chain. Look through your labels to ascertain exactly what fits.

5. Enjoy Yourself
